Routescene’s UAV LiDAR mapping systems have been designed to be drone agnostic. Easily integrated with any multi rotor drone that can carry a payload of between 1.9kg (4.2lbs) and 2.4kg (5.3lbs) depending on the LidarPod configuration you choose. This weight includes the LidarPod, mounting kit, cables and GNSS antennas.
Below is a selection of aerial platforms and your choice will depend on your application and the final results you wish to achieve:
1. Multi rotor drones (or multicopters)
Model name: AIR8
Manufacturer: Airborne Robotics
Endurance with LiDAR system: 32 minutes
Max payload: 10kg (22lbs)
Power source: batteries
Designed and manufactured in Austria with offices also in the UK and Germany. Airbourne Robotics provides a full turnkey drone system with hardware, operating and flight planning software, training and support. The AIR8 OctoCopter features market leading characteristics of flight time, payload capacity, redundancy and water resistance (IP54 rated for dust and splash water safe).
Model name: AIR4
Manufacturer: Airborne Robotics
Endurance with LiDAR system: 15-17 minutes
Max payload: 2kg (4.4lbs)
Power source: batteries
The AIR4 Quadcopter has been designed for surveying and mapping applications. Designed and manufactured in Austria as a full turnkey system.
Model name: Perimeter 8
Manufacturer: Skyfront Inc
Endurance with LiDAR system: 3 hours
Max payload: 7.5kg (16.5kg)
Power source: hybrid gas – electric
We tested the Routescene LidarPod mounted onto a Skyfront Perimeter 8 drone and achieved 3 hours flight time. Read about the longest endurance gasoline-electric hybrid multicopter LiDAR drone test at Skyfront’s test site in California, USA.
Model names: Raven, D Series and Harrier Industrial
Manufacturer: Vulcan
Endurance: 20 minutes
Max Payload: 10kg (22kg)
Power source: batteries
The Raven is capable of lifting a 10kg payload and maintain maneuverability. Made from carbon fiber and 6061 aluminum. Tough folding aircraft in X8 configuration.
Quick detach fixed landing gear is used, allowing the LidarPod to be easily removed and cased while still installed in the landing gear, for quick and simple deployment and secure transportation.
Vulcan offers a number of drone models capable of working with Routescene’s UAV LiDAR Systems including the D Series and Harrier Industrial.
Model name: M300
Manufacturer: DJI
Endurance with LiDAR system: 30 minutes

Hanseatic Aviation Solutions GmbH offers innovative products and services based on their extensive experience in the aviation industry. This aircraft has a >5kg payload bay with 1.5 hour flight endurance. Also available with autopilot system and mission planning tool. See more about Hanseatic Aviation Soultions and Routescene working together.
3. UAV helicopters
Model name: Airboxer
Manufacturer: Higheye
Endurance: 2hrs
Max payload: 5kg (11kg)
Power source: combustion engine
]The Airboxer is a long range unmanned helicopter with a three-blade single rotor. Because of its’ size, weight and capabilities, it creates a class on its own. It brings industrial reliability into the UAV market at an unprecedented small size. Consider the Airboxer as a down-sized version of a manned helicopter. Both the gearboxes and the rotor systems are rated and tested for a TBO of 1,000 hours within standard operational conditions. Propulsion is provided by an air-cooled boxer engine with fuel injection. The aircraft’s main fuel tank has a 6.5 liters AVGAS capacity. The Airboxer will lift payloads of 5.0 kgs for several hours at sea level.
4. Manned helicopters
Routescene’s UAV LiDAR Systems can also be mounted onto a helicopter. Please see the Technical Specifications for ideal flying altitudes.
