Mapix technologies wins Placement of the Year Award 2015

We are delighted to have been awarded first prize in the e-Placement Scotland “Placement of the Year” Award at ScotSoft2015 on Thursday 17 September 2015 in recognition of an outstanding student placement.

Leif Gehrmann, now a member of the Mapix team, was a student of Heriot-Watt University and worked with Mapix on a placement for three months using the skills learned on his computer science course to develop a web interface for the Routescene LidarPod, gaining wide experience and business awareness.

This was the first time Mapix hired an e-Placement student and our experience was first class, e-Placement Scotland found the perfect student for us. Leif’s excellent software development skills and keen interest in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) hugely helped his understanding of the product and what was required. In fact, Leif was so useful to the business that at the end of his placement, he continued to work for us whilst completing his studies, and now has a full-time position.
